Do you remember third grade? Seems like yesterday, doesn't it? I was a reader and a total geek. There was nothing I loved more than sitting by myself and reading a good book. I was decidedly right-brained, and, to put it mildly, math did not come easily to me. Match me against any elementary school brainiac, and I could crush them in a spelling bee. But fractions? Please....no.
Thankfully, the lights came on for me one day. I learned that math wasn't the schoolyard bully after all, and we became close friends. I'll bet you're thinking, "good thing!"
Pick any number between 1 and 9. We'll use 7. See how it works? 7+7+7=21
NOW, take the number 7 and multiply it times itself three times. If you recall third grade, you might recognize that you are simplifying the exponent! 7x7x7=343
Don't you just love math?? Everything changes with the rotation of the addition sign.
Just a little multiplication, and we create leverage.
